Otherworldly night life: Lucid dreaming with the Lucent Dossier Experience

The Lucent Dossier Experience, the critically acclaimed avant-garde nightclub spectacle producer, is taking over the h.wood nightspot (formerly the Stork Lounge) for a season of weekly Wednesday evening soirees with its surreal, circus-themed event planning. This Wednesday's opening night, called Gateway 11:11, promises to be a step straight into a scene from one of Lewis Carroll's Alice-in-Wonderland books.

After spending the summer touring in Asia, Europe and Central America, the Lucent Dossier Experience will transform the h.wood, which will be taken over by aerial performers, jugglers, stilt walkers, "soul cleansing" gypsies bearing herbal elixirs, fire eaters, a bearded lady, clowns, contortionists, sword swallowers and burlesque dancers. It should be quite the scene!

Doors open at 8 p.m.; the performance is 9 to 11 p.m.; DJs and dancing until 2 a.m.

h.wood, 1738 N. Orange, Los Angeles. Admission is $15.

We’re not sure if you’ve noticed but it’s, well, comical these days how many superhero franchises are either in the teeth of the Hollywood rumor mill or already on the way to theaters. For want of a better term, are we in danger of reaching Justice League fatigue? Eventually the bottom of the barrel has to be reached — would you buy a ticket for the inevitable “Ant Man” and “Squirrel Girl” adaptations? Let us know.
